I would like to state immediately that I am unsure whether this program is open source... (I tried checking out the website for info, and couldn't find anything stating it to be so)

I just posted this one up because of the update on the fact that vSwarm may be able to support non open source programs later on.

The program is an external renderer, for 3D studios like Blender, and etc.

I know that there is the fact that each computer on the vSwarm network needs to be registered, so this may be something not immediately taken up.

So I just added this one in for the sake of knowing that people could add in their say about this one :)

Thanks for the awesome site!

How about adding support for Maxwell Render 2. I use 3DS Max 2010 and Rhino 4 and I get awesome renders with MR vs Mental Ray, but it is Soooo slow. The more CPU's one uses with this beast the better. It is a natural for a Render Farm as they have a good RF setup built-in and dedicated render nodes .

By the way I am gearing towards GPU rendering in the future and Octane is something that is beginning to intrigue me. If nothing else that direction would be cool.

Dear Blenderfriends,

I´ve learned now on blender 2.5 alpha. My Projekt is based on 2.5 alpha, but the renderengine doesn´t work above ca 10 particles. Each particle
is an animated ant. My need is ca 100 particles.-
Is there any other possibility than to wait till christmas, when blender 2.5 will be integrated into vSwarm?
any other Renderfarms??? i´ll need it now....

Hello everybody,

I'm mainly working with Sketchup 7 pro, Rhino 4 and Vue d'Esprit, as well as Carrara 7.2.

Doing my renderjobs with HyperShot/KeyShot, Carrara 7.2, (Rhino)Flamingo, Vue d' Esprit 7, and recently
aquired 'Thea-Render-beta' and 'octane-render-beta' (the latter being a GPU-rendering solution).
Also very interesting >>> www.numenus.de >>>'augenblick'

I would like to ask, if GPU-rendering power could as well become operational via cloud-computing?
(www.felixrender.com shows a cloud-computing-solution for cpu-render ...could this be possible for a software like 'octane-render' (gpu) as well?)

In the meantime I would like to ask for a support of carrara 7 (8 beeing anounced lately) and twilight-render (or thea-render as soon as available as RC)

maximum respect for vswarm

best

Although still in beta, VRay for Blender is giving me outstanding results, so maybe VRay will be one of the most important requests for this renderfarm in the future. The standalone version of VRay to use with Blender is also quite inexpensive (1/3 of the price of VRay Max/Maya), so it is my assesment that many a small business will require a rendering service in the future, which would make funding very easy.
As inexpensive as this professional solution might prove in the future, i'd like to ask anyone to support the current VRay for Blender development, as some wonderful work is being done there.
VRay for Blender works on all platforms, so i'd love to see mac support and linux support, too.

I'm sure one of those renderer for the renderman compliant users would bring some more people, since I guess more vSwarm will be compatible with renderer, more people will come, and more cpu we'll get :D

Check out [www.blendertorenderman.org]. They developp the Mosaic Rib Exporter plugin for Blender, and some of the developpers are the same one for Aqsis I believe.
I know they have a short movie project that only use there pipeline with Renderman ("the widow" I think), they might be interesting in this kind of Render system.

otherwise Pixie (http://www.renderpixie.com/) or 3Delight (http://www.3delight.com/en/) could be some nice choices too. 3delight is used with XSI and Maya as well which could be a smart choice to bring more people other.

Hi All,

I am just wondering if vSwarm supports Blender Internal renders?

I can't find a list of supported applications anywhere?

I installed the client on my old 500Mhz, but it does not work. I guess, because it is not SSE2 processor. But Lux has a SSE version which I have used on slower machines.

At least Maya-mental ray because it's one of the most used setup around. 3Delight for maya would be nice also because is a fast low cost & production proven Renderman compliant renderer which is well intergraded in Maya. Thank you!

Why? Cause I use it! I have no idea how difficult getting applications working with vSwarm is though?...

Hi all!
Our first proposal of an application to add to the vSwarm Client is Lux Render!

What do you think? Are we right to add this to the application wishlist and focus our efforts on this one?
